Ex-council furniture is on the way to community groups across Buangor, Yalla-Y-Poora, Willaura, and Elmhurst, thanks to Ararat Rural City.
Over 65 items are being delivered by council crews to Buangor Community Sports Centre, Yalla-Y-Poora Tennis Club, Willaura Sports Ground, and Elmhurst Cemetery Trust this week.
CEO Dr Tim Harrison said Council carries out a replacement of public furniture when required to enhance the region’s liveability.
“From time to time, Council donates a range of assets earmarked for replacement which includes park seats, chairs and tables,” Dr Harrison said.
“Donating these items to local groups and sporting clubs is a great way to repurpose community assets and helps reduce landfill.
“We’re fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers who carry out important work for our communities.
Council will continue to back local groups, sporting clubs, and organisations to maintain the continuity of that work.”
