School Holiday Fun in Ararat Rural City

Keep the kids entertained with Ararat Rural City’s Spring School Holiday Program, a fun-filled calendar of events delivered by Council facilities.

Each term council supports a range of free and affordable events and activities to entertain, inspire, and keep young ones busy. From Movie Mondays to sports workshops, craft sessions to immersive performances, the packed program caters to a range of interests and ages.

Here is a list of suggested activities that will entertain everyone in your family, rain or shine.

For the active ones

Join Ararat Fitness Centre for a Pool Party with lots of inflatables, music and fun for the whole family on 19 September, 5 pm-7 pm. Improve your swimming skills with a Stroke Technique Workshop* – this workshop will take kids through the correct kicking and breathing techniques while focusing on body positioning. Suitable for kids Level 3 and above. Contact the Ararat Fitness Centre for more information on 5352 1064.

For the creatives

Experience an immersive performance and workshop led by musician Erica Rasmussen and visual artist Zakiya Kurdi in Pomonal Community Hall, Willaura Memorial Hall and Ararat Town Hall from 26-28 September.

Paint What You Hear* incorporates classical and contemporary music with visual art to engage young people in the arts. Ages 4-12, $5 tickets. Visit www.ararattownhall.com.au to book.

Explore your creativity in an Arts & Crafts Fun* session at Ararat Library in collaboration with Ararat Gallery on 22 & 27 September, 2pm. In these fun, free sessions, children will be making animal-inspired paper crafts: giraffe headbands, snake finger puppets and parrot hand puppets! All materials provided, suitable for ages 5-12. For the movie buffs

A trip to the library for ‘Movie Monday’ is always a holiday family favourite. Sessions are free, 18 & 25 September from 2pm. The Library will also host its regular children’s program including Baby Rhyme Time, Pre-school Storytime, and extended LEGO Free Play.
