Council Calls for End to Public Graffiti

Council is concerned about a recent increase in graffiti vandalism on public property, including toilet blocks and other amenities. This destructive behaviour defaces facilities meant for our whole community, and becomes an unnecessary burden on Council’s Waste and Parks & Gardens staff who must schedule and execute the clean-up – which translates into thousands of dollars in incurred costs for ratepayers.

Graffiti creates a negative impression of our municipality, deterring visitors and undermining our efforts to maintain a clean and welcoming environment. It can also create a sense of insecurity in our residents; when public spaces are defaced, we feel less connected to our community.

We urge residents to report any instances of graffiti to Council immediately. Early reporting allows us to take swift action to remove the graffiti and deter future vandalism.

We believe that by working together, we can reduce graffiti incidents and protect our community's assets.
