Ararat Pound Adoption & Open Day – Nov 25

Come along and meet some of the animals ready for adoption at the Ararat Pound Open Day this Saturday 25 November from 10 am-12 pm.

Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Bob Sanders noted Ararat Rural City has seen an increase in animals surrendered to the pound this spring.

“Council is committed to animal welfare, and we will do our best to find safe, loving homes for our four-legged friends,” Cr Sanders said.

Community Safety Officer Lyndon Turner said, “As part of the Open Day, visitors have the opportunity to speak with community safety officers who care for animals at our facility and learn more about the benefits of adoption.”

“The animals currently in our shelter have beautiful personalities – from a greyhound, two kittens, and adult cats waiting for new homes and families – you may even find a new best friend on the day.

“We encourage everyone to come down and say hello – we’re happy to answer any questions on registrations for your furry friend or animal matters.”

As a facility of Ararat Rural City Council, the Pound supports a no-euthanasia policy for animals who are suitable for rehousing. Council offers a reasonable adoption fee of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats which covers the cost of desexing, initial vaccinations, and microchipping.

We can’t wait to see you for a morning of paw-esome fun this Saturday, 25 November at the Ararat Rural City Pound, 19 Pound Lane. Community Safety Officers can assist with more information on pet adoption, call 5355 0200 or email [email protected]
