2024 Sustainable Community Grants Fund Applications Closing Soon

The 2024 Sustainable Community Grants Fund, providing a vital source of funding for community development and sustainability initiatives across Ararat Rural City, Northern Grampians, and Pyrenees Shires, will soon be closing its applications. With a closing date set for April 21, 2024, community groups and organizations are urged to submit their proposals before the deadline.

The Sustainable Community Grants Fund is made possible through the generous contributions of Partners Group and OPTrust, parent companies of the Ararat Windfarm. Since its inception in 2016, this initiative has played a pivotal role in fostering innovative and sustainable projects within the region, injecting over $500,000.00 worth of grant funding into the community.

Ararat Rural City CEO, Dr. Tim Harrison, emphasized the significance of this program, stating, "Ararat Rural City Council has been involved through the facilitation of the Sustainable Community Grants Fund program since 2016, aligning with our commitment to renewable energy targets and emission reduction. The Sustainable Community Grants Fund presents an invaluable opportunity for local groups and organizations to receive funding to run initiatives which all adds to the sustainable development and well-being of our community.”

The Sustainable Community Grants Fund aims to:

  • Provide community groups and organizations with the opportunity to develop innovative and sustainable projects.
  • Enhance health and education outcomes across the community through long-term partnerships and cohesive projects.
  • Strengthen community connections and social well-being by focusing on long-term sustainability.
  • Foster healthy and active communities through the development of relevant projects.
  • Promote cultural diversity, creative community activities, and projects.
