Women’s Health Hub to join East Grampians Facilities

A new Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Hub will soon open in Ararat, joining a network of 20 hubs across the state delivering free or low-cost care to women, including contraception, medical abortion, referral for surgical abortion and sexual health testing and treatment.

Part of a $153 million women’s health package from the Victorian State Government, the hubs are designed to transform the way women’s health issues are treated, “breaking down barriers women and girls face in accessing affordable and comprehensive care.”

The Government Inquiry into Women’s Pain is also still underway, and Victorian women are encouraged to join the public submission and purvey process to add to the 9,000 responses already received. Submissions are open until end of this month, and the Inquiry can be accessed on the Engage Victoria site.

“We are very pleased at the addition of the Women’s Health Hub to East Grampians Health,” says Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison. “All women should feel heard, supported, and safe on their journey towards optimal health and wellbeing. The hub will ensure that our region’s women and girls can more easily access advice on preventative care, managing specific conditions, or simply connecting with supportive resources.”
