Vital Road Renewal Works Underway in King Street, Ararat

Building on its commitment to improving local infrastructure, Ararat Rural Council has made significant progress on another major road upgrade project.

Road renewal works continue on King Street, between Kofoed Street and McLellan Street, in Ararat. The project aims to significantly enhance the road's infrastructure and overall driving conditions for residents and commuters.

Kerb and channel works have been completed, and pavement works will commence this week, weather permitting. These upgrades will improve road drainage, reduce the frequency of maintenance, extend the road's lifespan, and create a smoother driving surface. Residents will still be able to access their properties through the duration of the works.

This vital project is supported by Council’s Capital Works Program which allocates $700,000 towards the Urban Road and Laneway Sealing initiative, specifically targeting improvements to urban gravel roads.

As set out in Council’s 2022-32 Asset Plan, the Urban Road and Laneway Sealing initiative also aims to evaluate key urban unsealed roads and laneways throughout the municipality. It recommends a long-term program to seal crucial elements of the network, to develop and maintain vital infrastructure.

"We're committed to delivering safer roads for our community," says Ararat Rural Council CEO Tim Harrison. "These renewal works are a cornerstone of our plan to improve infrastructure across the municipality.”
