About Lake Bolac
Lake Bolac is a historic settlement some 30 minutes drive south of Ararat. An important service centre for the surrounding farms, the township is also an attraction in its own right.
Visit historic bluestone buildings, including the site of the Lake Bolac Flax Mill. Take a self-guided heritage walk through the town with the help of a free brochure available from the Information Centre. The Lake Bolac Historical Society conducts guided tours for groups.
The nearby Narrapumelap Historic Homestead and Gardens are considered one of rural Victoria’s finest examples of French Gothic Revival. it is open to the public Melbourne Cup and Easter weekends and at other times by appointment.
The Information Centre houses a display of fascinating historic photos and memorabilia. The centre includes a playground, internet facilities, Bendigo Bank branch and Medicare outlet.
